障子のDNAから生まれたコンテンポラリーオブジェ。
空間を遮ることで、隔てる、透かす、彩る、状況に応じて役割を変える。障子という道具の持つそれらの特性を、不要なノイズを隠す、人や物との距離を適度に保つ、空間にリズムを作るなどの役割を備えたコンテンポラリーオブジェとして、現代の生活空間に居場所を作り出そうと考えました。
古来から日本人の生活空間に根付いてきた障子や建具。SHA/SHAは、それらを支える伝統的な木材加工技術と、そのルーツでもある障子のアイデンティティが、現代の生活空間と調和するためのデザインです。
物事を遮る「遮 (シャ)」と、斜めに走るグラフィカルな格子の「斜 (シャ)」。
二つのシャから生まれたSHA/SHA。
A partition object born from the DNA of shoji screens.
By blocking space, it separates, transparencies, colors, and changes its role depending on the situation. These characteristics of the shoji, a tool, hide unnecessary noise. Maintains a proper distance from people and objects. We wanted to create a place for shoji screens in contemporary living spaces as contemporary objects with the role of creating rhythm in space.
Shoji screens and fittings have been a part of Japanese living spaces since ancient times, and SHA/SHA is designed to harmonize the traditional woodworking techniques that support them, and the identity of the shoji, which is also its roots, with modern living spaces.
“Sha” of blocking things out and “Sha” of graphical lattice running diagonally,
SHA/SHA was born from the two "SHAs".
